Thru Karls eyes
About 1977, starting at Fitzroy Crossings main attraction !
The one and only attraction: The Crossing Inn Pub!
My best Pig Hunting mate was visiting me from Collie, so we dropped into the Crossing Inn for a few beers.
At Pub closing time we headed for a Camp site I knew of just past Geikie Gorge near Brooking Springs old vegetable garden to Chuck down our Swags.
The Brooking Springs Vegetable Garden was located right near the Fitzroy River for a good reason, an endless supply of fresh water.
Well in the morning my mate (unusually woke me up) I was usually awake and up just before the Sun, even now.
He cheerfully told me he was going for a walk and there was a Crocodile in my Swag!
Of course I thought he was joking, and went back to sleep only to wake up about a half hour later and find a Crocodile cuddling right up to me right alongside me in my Swag !
It was a bit over a metre long ! with razor sharp teeth that could do a lot of damage
right alongside me to keep warm, obviously !
When my mate came back the air was blue with my cursing him !
Of course he had told me, but I didn’t believe him, so off he went on his walk !
In retrospect he was probably laughing thinking pay back !
I have had just about everything in my SWAG in The Kimberley.
Nasty deadly Snakes, nasty Scorpions, nasty centipedes, nasty Spiders, nasty Ants.
Once on Old Cherabun I was woken by a large Black Pig ! grunting within touching distance ! he got the .303 treatment.
Dingoes used to come very close too, but the Crocodile was an unexpected first.
